Documenting Covid-19 “home schooling”
2020 will definitely be a year we won’t forget!! The year that pushed us left, right, and centre, took us to our knees yet also built our strength well beyond our own beliefs.
Having children is a privilege isn’t it? As much as we love them to bits, living with them 24/7 though would send anyone insane! From the food plates being left all around the house, paper cuttings all over the floor, 50 million wardrobe changes, arguments with siblings, and lets not forget the ” I’m hungry!” We all are due for a well earned holiday!
I’m slowly learning to live with a constant mess around me, not worrying if the kids have socks on their feet or if their hair is done, basically just letting them be kids! The less they have to worry about during Covid-19 the better!
I decided I wanted to begin Documenting Covid-19 “Home schooling”” the kids now know just to go about their day as normal and pretend Mum is not there, I secretly wait until I can sense something is about to happen, or when they are deep in thought throughout a school activity. It is then when I quickly grab my camera and lights and capture that moment in time, where either they are chuffed at themselves for the task they just completed or ran outside without my knowledge and hiding in the cubby house watching something on line!
These days may be tough at the moment, but give it 20 years and we will look back on those moments and remember the strength, resilience and utter appreciation for that time we were able to spend with our families. This lock down will go down in history as one of the toughest times Australians have ever faced, but remember it’s our story…. let’s make it a good one!
